Candidates

Candidates running on democratic socialism

A living, sourced list of the candidates running on platforms we can point to — Medicare for All, a real minimum wage, public power, the commons — from Congress down to the local ballot. The base list is DSA’s own election night tracker, 2026; a platform chip means we verified the position, not just the name. Every entry carries its race, its chapter, and the source it was checked against. 162 on the list — 61 elected, 24 lost, 77 not yet called (as of November 5, 2026).

How this list is made

A name gets on the list when its presence on the ballot can be pointed to — a published tracker, a filed candidacy, a chapter’s own slate — and its platform earns a chip only when that can be pointed to: a stated position, a documented record, a sourced interview. Each entry carries the date it was last checked and the source it was checked against. When a candidate is elected, loses, or drops out, the status moves; when a chapter endorses someone new, the list grows.

Two tiers, one rule. The base list is DSA’s own election night tracker — every race its chapters are watching on November 3, 2026, pulled from their published table. Entries without a platform chip are on the ballot, not yet verified: the name is real, the record is still being checked. The list grows the slow way — by being checked.

The November 3, 2026 results were applied the same way: a status moves only when it can be pointed to — a race called in the results feed with the math in its favor, an official results portal, or a local paper’s called line. Multi-seat races were checked against their published seat counts before anyone was marked a winner or a loser. Where the calling is still out, the entry stays running until it is not.

With results in, elected candidates lead the default list — federal first, then state and local — with the not-yet-called and lost entries following in their usual order. Use the Elected filter for just the winners.

It is a tool, not a mandate: vote where you vote — and hold the list, and the winners, to account afterward. Know of a candidate we should verify, a result we got wrong, or an entry that has gone stale? Tell the editors.
